The American rapper Travis Scott was released from French police custody on Saturday after being arrested in Paris the previous night for an altercation with a hotel security guard, according to prosecutors.
Scott, whose real name is Jacques Webster, was taken into custody early Friday after police were called to the luxury Georges V hotel.
A security guard had intervened in an altercation between the rapper and his bodyguard. Scott was reportedly shouting obscenities at people on a yacht from the city's marina and disobeying orders to leave.
Prosecutors said the incident was considered "minor" and all proceedings against Scott were dropped.
Scott had been in Paris to attend sporting events at the 2024 Summer Olympics. On Thursday night, he watched the United States men's basketball team defeat Serbia in the semifinals.
The 31-year-old American is one of the biggest stars in hip hop. He has topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart multiple times with hits like "Sicko Mode," "Highest in the Room," and "Franchise."
Scott has two children with his former girlfriend Kylie Jenner. In June, he was also arrested in Miami Beach on charges of trespassing and public intoxication.
The arrest in Paris comes as the latest controversy for the rapper, who is still facing lawsuits over a crowd surge at his Astroworld festival in Houston last November that killed 10 people.
But prosecutors determined the altercation at the luxury Paris hotel was minor in nature and dropped all charges against Scott on Saturday, allowing him to be released from custody.
